Toddler Fatally Hit By Pickup, Camper In Maine Driveway: Police

The little boy was immediately taken to the fire department by his parents after he was hit, but medics were unable to revive him.

NAPLES, ME — A Maine 2-year-old was killed last weekend when his father was moving a pickup truck and camper trailer in the family's driveway and failed to see him, according to the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Cumberland County police responded to the area of Lambs Mills Road in Naples just after 1 p.m. after receiving a 911 call, state police spokesperson Shannon Moss said in an email. Shortly after, the Naples Fire Department reported there was an unresponsive 2-year-old child at their station.

Preliminary investigation revealed the little boy was immediately taken to the fire department by his parents after he was hit. Medics were unable to revive the toddler, according to authorities.

Because of the child's age, state police are investigating the incident.

The names of the toddler and his parents were not released.
