Maine Teen Killed In New Jersey Beach Sand Collapse
The collapse happened while the 18-year-old and his sister were digging a hole with Frisbees on a Toms River beach.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Maine teenager was killed Tuesday when he was trapped by sand that collapsed while he and his sister were digging a hole on a New Jersey beach, according to police.
Levy Caverley, 18, died in the collapse, Jillian Messina, media relations specialist for the Toms River Police Department, told Patch.
The collapse happened while Caverley and his sister were digging a hole with Frisbees on Ocean Beach III, a private beach community located on a barrier island, the Asbury Park Press reported.

His sister, whose name was not released, was rescued and treated at the scene, Messina said.
The collapse was reported shortly after 4 p.m., Messina said, adding that the teens and family members were visiting from Maine and had spent the afternoon on the beach.

Caverley's body was recovered around 6:45 p.m., the Press reported.
