Maine Unions Call On King To Support Biden Labor Nominee

One of the state’s biggest labor organizations, the Maine AFL-CIO, is urging Sens. Angus King and Susan Collins to support President Joe Biden’s pick to head the U.S. Labor Department, Julie Su, who they say is a defender of exploited workers.

Su — who is currently the Deputy Secretary of Labor and, if confirmed, would be the sole Asian American serving in Biden’s cabinet — faces a rocky path to confirmation. She needs at least 50 votes in a Senate where Democrats hold a narrow 51-49 majority.
