A Maine Woman Had A Deadly Tumor. Her Apple Watch Saved Her Life

Kim Durkee's Apple Watch warning woke her up two days in a row. On the third day, she finally went to the emergency room.

MAINE —An Apple Watch is credited with saving a Maine woman's life after it detected her heart was in atrial fibrillation, leading doctors to discover a deadly, fast-growing tumor inside her body, according to a report.

Kim Durkee, 67, told CBS Boston that her Apple Watch woke her up two days in a row with a warning that her heart was in atrial fibrillation. She didn't believe it, she told the news station. On the third night, however, the numbers were too high, she said.

Durkee went to the emergency room, where doctors discovered she had a myxoma, a fast-growing tumor that was cutting off the blood supply to her heart, according to CBS Boston. Eventually, it would cause her to have a stroke.
