Man Shot After Assaulting Guard At Federal Building In Augusta
The FBI said the man brought a knife into the Edmund S. Muskie Federal Building on Wednesday morning.
AUGUSTA, ME — A man was shot Wednesday morning after he brought a knife into the Edmund S. Muskie Federal Building and physically assaulted a guard, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Boston.
The incident happened around 11:30 a.m, according to authorities. FBI officials said the man entered the building and physically assaulted a Federal Protective Service guard before he was shot by another guard.
The man was taken into custody and was transported to the hospital, officials said.

No one else inside the building was hurt, according to the FBI. Officials said there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
The FBI is leading the investigation with the assistance of the Federal Protective Service, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maine, the Maine State Police, the Augusta Police Department, and the Maine Attorney General’s Office of Investigations.
