• Maine legislative leaders accept bill aimed at making school busses safer following two deaths (wabi.tv) — State lawmakers meeting in Augusta have accepted a new bill that would require safety arms on all Maine school buses after two recent fatal student accidents. The proposal, sparked by tragedies in Rockland and Standish, now heads to the reviser’s office and will be debated in the legislative session starting next month.

• UMA attempting to combat aviation workforce shortages with programs (wabi.tv) — The University of Maine at Augusta is expanding its aviation training to tackle Maine’s shortage of pilots, drone operators, and aircraft technicians, with key programs now running from a Brunswick hangar. Leaders say UMA’s drone and maintenance technician tracks are already helping state agencies and could grow into a statewide pipeline, keeping more aviation workers trained in Maine and connected to Augusta’s campus.
