• Jay takes first step toward changing contractor for trash pickup (newscentermaine.com) — Jay residents could see higher trash and recycling costs as the Select Board advances a new contract with Riverside Disposal to replace Archie's, which also serves Mexico and other nearby towns. The board also approved funding for used police cruisers and began planning firefighter wage adjustments tied to Maine’s 2026 minimum wage increase.

• New Maine School Set to Open With Co-Ed Locker Room (themainewire.com) — Parents in Mexico and neighboring RSU 10 towns may soon confront a controversy over the new Mountain Valley Community School’s plan for a single co-ed locker room with private changing stalls. A Mexico state representative and at least one school board member are pressing for answers on why a previously gender-divided design was changed and whether any state rule actually requires a co-ed setup.
