• Graduate workers union reaches tentative agreement with UMaine System (bangordailynews.com) — Graduate workers at UMaine’s flagship Orono campus have reached a tentative three‑year contract that boosts minimum stipends by $4,000 and significantly increases university-paid health insurance. About 900 graduate employees, most based in Orono, will vote this week on ratification, potentially reshaping pay and benefits for the teaching and research assistants many local residents interact with on campus.
   

• UMaine System faces pushback for ongoing Crossland Hall demolition proposal (wabi.tv) — UMaine officials are moving ahead with plans to demolish historic Crossland Hall on the Orono campus, despite strong pushback from students, alumni, and faculty and a permit delay from the town of Orono. Trustees will review the north campus improvement plan this week, with a final vote expected in January, while the Franco-American Centre and a key research lab face relocations tied to the project.
