Boston Globe blows another one

Globe once again scooped on a major Boston sports story

By Ted Cohen/Patch.com

Hard to believe that the Boston Globe's beat reporters haven't been called into the corner office to explain their latest failure - the second big blow since the spring.

The Glob got scooped on the latest biggest sports story to to slip through their hands - the trade of Red Sock troublemaker Raffy Devers.

Robert Murray of FanSided was the first to report the trade.

Other outlets, including the Glob, CBS Sports and ESPN, followed with their own "reporting," confirming the details of the trade and the players involved.

For example, Julian McWilliams of CBS Sports confirmed the details reported by Murray.

Jeff Passan of ESPN also reported on the trade, noting that Devers was traded and the players the Red Sox received in return.

But where was ESPN when the rubber hit the road? Where was the Herald? Where was 98.5? How about WEEI? Chris Cotillo and Karen Guregian MassLive?

They were all the same place the Globe was - sitting on their fat asses not knowing how to break a story.

For the Glob it's the same old story - failure.

The Glob's Alex Speier, Peter Abraham, Dan Shaughnessy should explain how they missed the biggest story of the season. How about Sean McAdam? Chad Finn? Tara Sullivan?

We'll wait ...
