An Aberdeen Middle School teacher was appointed Monday to a school safety governing board.
Elizabeth Watson Ray, a special education teacher, will serve as the undesignated public member on the Maryland Center for School Safety Governing Board. The board, created by legislation that passed this year's General Assembly session, works with school and law enforcement to set best practices, gather data and provide training.
Ray, a Harford County resident, has served on the school improvement team and is in the mentoring program there. She has also worked in the Carroll County department of social services and as a correctional officer for Baltimore City and at the Maryland State Penitentiary, according to a release.
