• WebstaurantStore distribution center in Hagerstown to start shipping (ydr.com) — Aberdeen is one of three existing Maryland sites supporting WebstaurantStore’s massive new distribution hub in Hagerstown, which just began shipping orders and will eventually employ up to 400 people. The 1.2 million-square-foot facility focuses on Northeast customers, complements the Aberdeen center’s larger-equipment work, and comes with long-term tax incentives and plans for community grants and volunteering.

• Southern Maryland Coaches Mentor at Ripken Futures Games (southernmarylandchronicle.com) — Youth baseball players who shined at qualifying tournaments in Aberdeen advanced to the 2025 All-Ripken Futures Games in Florida, where Southern Maryland coaches led teams to multiple bracket titles. Their experience with the Ripken complex in Aberdeen and national-level play is now feeding back into St. Mary’s County leagues, with plans to apply new drills, lineup strategies, and player-first coaching at home.
• House passes Kayla Hamilton Act after Aberdeen woman killed by undocumented gang member (wmar2news.com) — A federal bill named for Kayla Hamilton, who was killed in her Aberdeen home, has passed the U.S. House and now heads to the Senate. The proposal would tighten background checks and custody rules for unaccompanied minors entering the country, aiming to prevent situations like the one linked to Hamilton’s death.
