CRWS: Maryland, Japan, Connecticut Earn Wins

The Cal Ripken World Series is played at the Ripken Baseball Complex in Aberdeen, MD.

Seven games will be played Monday at the Cal Ripken World Series in Aberdeen—including the host Harford County team playing at 3:30 p.m.

Here are some results from Sunday:

SOUTHEAST 10, HARFORD COUNTY 6
lead 1-0 in the second before the Southeast scored in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings. Tyler Ward's two-run homer in the fourth gave the Southeast the cushion it needed for the win.

MARYLAND 7, SOUTHWEST 0
Jake Heskett pitched three shutout innings in relief, and homered twice to power the team from Boyds to a big win. Marcus Brown also homered for Maryland. Starter John Paul Walsh started the game for Boyds and struck out eight in three innings of two-hit ball.

NEW ENGLAND 11, PACIFIC SOUTHWEST 8
Newtown, CT rallied to remain undefeated. Trailing 2-0, Lucas O'Brien belted the team's first homer of the series to get New England within a run, before the squad erupted for six runs in the fourth. O'Brien homered again in the sixth to seal the win.

MID ATLANTIC 11, OHIO VALLEY 2
The team from the Bronx continued its strong play behind Jimmy Abreu, who struck out three in four innings for the win. 

JAPAN 19, CANADA 0
The defending champs put up 12 runs in the first inning and combined for 16 hits in the win. Kosuke Ito doubled in each of the first three innings. 

MEXICO 6, AUSTRALIA 4
Australia led, 1-0, early but the two teams exchanged leads seven times before Sergio Gaxiola's two-run homer proved the decisive blow. 

KOREA 7, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 4
No report was available from the international game.
