Deputy Injured in Aberdeen Tractor-Trailer Crash

A Harford County sheriff's deputy was injured in a crash with a tractor trailer early Monday in Aberdeen.
At approximately 5:15 a.m. Deputy First Class Chris Allen was traveling east on Route 40 in a patrol car when a tractor trailer pulled out of the Wawa near the Route 22 spur to make a left, according to a sheriff's office release.
Allen's car struck the left side of the trailer, which was driven by George Lutes, 60, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ. Allen was taken by Aberdeen Volunteer Fire Department personnel to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he is in serious condition, according to the release. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, according to the sheriff's office.
Allen is a 13-year member of the sheriff's office, assigned to the police services bureau. The sheriff's office is still investigating the crash.
