SAIC Expands With New APG Facility
A new 33,000-square foot facility at the GATE office and technology park will house SAIC.

One of 's biggest corporations is expanding.
SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation) held a ribbon cutting Wednesday at a new 33,000 square-foot facility at the GATE (Government and Technology Enterprise)Β office and technology park.
βWeβre proud to expand our support to Aberdeen Proving Ground,β SAIC group president Tony Baybrook said in a statement. βOur increased presence here will ensure that we are readily accessible to key customers, allowing for face-to-face collaboration to help them accomplish their critical missions.β

The complex, located at 6210 Guardian Gateway,Β is LEED-certified. It joins other nearby SAIC facilities in Abingdon, Edgewood and .
The expansion should provide about 50 new jobs to the area, according to a statement from Congressman C.A. "Dutch" Ruppersberger.

βSAIC has supported our countryβs defense programs in Aberdeen for more than 20 years,β Ruppersberger said in a statement. βNow, theyβre choosing to grow here because of our quality workers, creating even more local jobs for local families. These are the types of high-quality jobs that will improve our economy and help Maryland build the number one technology workforce in the country.β
According to a statement from Ruppersberger's office, SAIC employs 800 on APG. The company employs about 41,000 total, helping to support the Department of Defense and other agencies, according to a statement from the organization.
