2 Dead, 6 Injured In 2 Weekend Crashes On Eastern Shore
Two people were killed and six others were injured in two separate vehicle crashes Saturday night on the Eastern Shore, state police said.
EASTERN SHORE, MD – Two people were killed and six others were injured in two separate vehicle crashes Saturday night on the Eastern Shore, Maryland State Police said.
Around 11:22 p.m. Saturday, troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on northbound U.S. Route 301 at Hayden Clark Road in Centreville.
The motorcyclist, identified as Marcus Dangerfield, 20, of Dover, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene, a state police news release said. The driver of a GMC Acadia, a 45-year-old man, was taken by ambulance to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, while the passenger, a 38-year-old woman, was flown by state police helicopter.

Investigators said the GMC was eastbound on Hayden Clark Road, attempting to cross over northbound U.S. Route 301 when it was struck by the motorcycle. U.S. Route 301 was closed for more than two hours.
The second accident happened about 11:55 p.m. Saturday on Maryland Route 213 and Riley’s Mill Road in Chestertown.

State police said a 17-year-old boy who was a passenger in a Ford Fusion was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 19-year-old woman, was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment.
Three additional passengers, a 21-year-old woman, a 17-year-old boy, and a 23-year-old woman, were taken by ambulance to Chester River Hospital Center for treatment.
Investigators said the Ford was southbound, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle drove onto the right shoulder, lost control, struck a telephone pole and overturned.
Police believe impairment may have been a factor in the crash, according to a news release.
Maryland Route 213 was closed for more than two hours for the crash investigation.
