Two people are in custody on murder charges after a shooting Friday night in Long Branch Local Park in Silver Spring killed a 17-year-old and injured a man who remains hospitalized, authorities said.
Grisly Details About Dacara Thompson's Death, Suspect's Immigration Status
An undocumented immigrant charged with murder in the death of 19-year-old Dacara Thompson, of Lanham, was arrested previously by Park Police for driving while impaired and was released rather than being deported, according to reports. Hugo Hernandez-Mendez, 35, was charged Friday with first- and second-degree murder in Thompson's death. He is to appear in court for a bail hearing Monday.

Several people were injured when an ambulance and a tractor-trailer collided in northern Baltimore County this weekend, reports said. The Baltimore Sun reported that seven people were hurt in the wreck. Maryland State Police Aviation Command helicopters airlifted two of the victims to nearby hospitals, WBAL-TV said.
Driver Identified In Fatal One-Vehicle Beltsville Crash
The name of a Beltsville driver killed in a one-vehicle Sept. 1 crash was released Monday by the Prince George's County Police Department.
