Death At State Prison In Allegany County Investigated
An inmate at the North Branch Correctional Institution in Allegany County died Saturday. State police are investigating the cause of death.
CUMBERLAND, MD – Maryland State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at the North Branch Correctional Institution in Allegany County.
The inmate is identified as Patrick Canderloro, 38. He was declared dead on Sept. 6 by emergency medical service personnel.
The preliminary investigation indicates Candeloro was found lying on the ground and unresponsive in his cell by officers at the prison, authorities said.

About 6 p.m. Saturday, the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit was contacted by investigators from the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Internal Investigative Unit about an inmate death.
Maryland State Police investigators along with crime scene technicians from the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division responded to the scene.

The investigation report will be presented to the State’s Attorney’s Office in Allegany County for review.
