Here's Where These 2 MD Cities Rank For Quality Of Life

A new analysis by LawnStarter identified which cities set the gold standard for quality of life. See where two Maryland towns ranked.

One Maryland town is among cities across the United States that are setting the gold standard for quality of life, according to a new ranking.

Lawn care company LawnStarter recently analyzed dozens of metrics in categories including health, safety, education, affordability, and environmental factors for America’s 500 largest cities to identify 2025's Leading Cities For Quality of Life.

In this year's study, researchers found that living in bigger cities doesn't guarantee a good quality of life.

In fact, the city of Frederick, which came in at No. 47 on LawnStarter's list, has a population of only 89,537 people.

Baltimore was also on the list, but didn't fare as well as most towns. Charm City was ranked 399th out of the 500 cities analyzed.

Here's a look at the top 10 cities when it comes to quality of life, according to LawnStarter:

  1. Newton, Massachusetts
  2. Woodbury, Minnesota
  3. Plymouth, Minnesota
  4. Pleasonton, California
  5. Redmond, Washington
  6. Castle Rock, California
  7. Bellevue, Washington
  8. San Ramon, California
  9. Naperville, Illinois
  10. Carmel, Indiana

Among the 30 largest U.S. cities, only San Francisco (No. 25), Seattle (No. 26), and San Jose (No. 43) cracked the top 50. Others like Philadelphia (No. 436) and Houston (No. 462) fell toward the bottom.

Several of the country’s largest metros even landed in the bottom 10, including Detroit (No. 499) and Memphis (No. 495), where violent crime remains high and poverty rates are more than 65 percent higher than the average city in our study.

Quality of life in U.S. cities also depends on more than just where you live. It's shaped by the environment, the economy and the health of the community, according to the ranking.
