These MD Cities Among Most Welcoming U.S. Destinations: Ranking
A new ranking determined which U.S. towns were most welcoming to visitors and new residents. See which MD cities made the list.
MARYLAND — Three Maryland cities were recently named among the most welcoming U.S. destinations for visitors and new residents, according to a new ranking and report.
The ranking compiled by U.K.-based electricity price advisor ElectricityPrices.com surveyed 3,700 seasoned travelers to determine the most hospitable destinations across the United States, according to a Bergen Record report.
The ranking sought to highlight the "nation's unsung heroes" where "warmth and friendliness are the cornerstones of the community ... newcomers can expect to be embraced with open arms, and where the essence of hospitality creates unforgettable experiences," a spokesperson told the Record.

St. Michaels, Chestertown and Berlin all earned a spot on the list of the 150 most welcoming cities, according to the ranking.
St. Michaels in Talbot County came in at No. 48. Described as a picturesque harbor on Maryland's Eastern Shore, St. Michaels was named as one of the Top 10 Best Small Coastal Towns in America by USA Today. Its harbor dates back to the mid-1600s and is home to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.

Following St. Michaels was Kent County's Chestertown at No. 115 and Berlin in Worcester County at No. 134.

- Stockbridge, Massachusetts
- Winterset, Iowa
- Elsah, Illinois
- Fredericksburg, Texas
- Bandon, Oregon
- Milton, Delaware
- Clinton, New Jersey
- Charlevoix, Michigan
- Essex, Connecticut
- Petersburg, Alaska
