3 Charged Following Attempted Kidnapping In Annapolis

The incident happened shortly after midnight on Tuesday, according to Annapolis police.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Three people are facing charges following an attempted kidnapping in Annapolis this week, according to authorities.

Annapolis police responded to the intersection of Americana and Norman Drives around 12:30 a.m. after receiving a call about possible shots fired. When police arrived, they searched the area and found one of the victims on the 1000 block of Bay Ridge Avenue.

According to police, the person told officers that he and a second victim, who was unaccounted for at the time, were approached by a group of three people, who pointed loaded guns at them.

Police said both victims were assaulted and forced into a black sedan. One of the victims managed to escape the car and call the police.

Based on information received from the victim, officers were able to locate the car and the second victim blocks away. Police also found several weapons inside the suspects' vehicle.

The suspects were immediately arrested. Both victims were unharmed and did not seek medical attention.

Police identified the suspects as Emmanuel Martinez-Lopez, Heriberto Romero and Manuel Abrego-Fernandez. Police said they were charged with multiple criminal violations.

The motive behind the assault and attempted kidnapping remains unknown.
