Three Naval Academy football players have officially been charged in connection with an April 2012 sexual assault.
The players, who were not identified, were charged in the military justice system with sexual assault and with making false official statements, The New York Times reports.
The assault on a female midshipman occurred during an off-campus party. The victim's lawyer, Susan Burke, alleged that one of the men told the victim not to cooperate with investigators. The victim contacted Burke earlier this year, and the investigation was reopened.
