3 Navy Football Players Investigated for Sexual Assault
The assault allegedly occurred in April 2012.

The Naval Academy is investigating three Navy football players in an alleged sexual assault, according to reports.
Military.com reports officials are not identifying the three players involved, when the investigation began or when it could be completed.
"Naval Academy leadership is monitoring the progress of this investigation and evaluating the appropriate options for adjudication," Cmdr. John Schofield, a Naval Academy spokesman, told the website. "It is completely inappropriate to make any other public comment on this investigation or any ongoing investigation as we risk compromising the military justice process."

The Baltimore Sun, however, reports the incident that is the subject of the investigation occured in April 2012.
Naval Academy Superintendent Vice Adm. Michael Miller and football coach Ken Niumatalolo were not available to comment to either outlet on the investigation.

Sexual assault in the military was a topic in Obama's speech at the academy's graduation last week. This week, a court martial began for Maj. Mark A. Thompson, an academy professor charged with sexual assault on a female midshipman in 2011.
