AACS Student Named to National Basketball Team
Taylor Murray will compete in Cancun, Mexico, later this month.

An Annapolis Area Christian School rising junior is headed to Mexico this month to represent the United States in an international competition.
Taylor Murray will compete alongside 11 other girls on the American U16 women's basketball team in the 2013 FIBA Americas Championship in Cancun, the school announced in a release. The tournament runs from June 19 to 23.
"I can't wait for the great experience it is going to be with my teammates and coaches," she said in a release. "My teammates and I will be learning from each other and the expertise of our coaches will introduce new ideas and improve our game in so many ways."

She was one of 124 players to try out for the U16 team, according to the release.
Taylor first made the varsity team as a freshman at AACS. Her other accolades include being named to The Baltimore Sun's All-Metro first team in 2013 and second team in 2012 and the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland's All-B Conference team in 2013. Taylor plays for the Amateur Athletic Union travel team Philly Belles.

"We are just so proud of Taylor," girls' basketball coach Jim Domoracki said in the release. "The best thing about Taylor is that she's in it for all the right reasons: her love of the game, not of fame. She gets more joy out of setting up another teammate to score than scoring a basket herself and makes other players around her better. She is honestly as hard-working and humble as any player I have ever coached and that dedication to team basketball is what elevates her play to a national level."
