Annapolis Maritime Museum Expands Hours For Independence Day

During the first week of July, the Museum will be open every day to allow visitors in town for Independence Day to visit.

From Annapolis Maritime Museum: Beginning July 2017, the Annapolis Maritime Museum will feature expanded hours. During the first week of July, the Museum will be open every day to allow visitors in town for Independence Day to visit. The following week will mark the beginning of new regular business hours; the Museum will be open Wednesday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with FREE admission.

“Our volunteer docents are amazing! It’s because of their energy and enthusiasm for the museum that we are able to offer these expanded hours,” said Caitlin Swaim, curator of the Museum.

Additionally, Remember Inc. has put together an audio tour for the Museum. The project was funded by the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County and the Eastport Civic Association.

The tour narration leads visitors through the permanent exhibit, entitled “Oysters on the Half Shell.” The tour explores the maritime history of Annapolis through the voices and stories of those who lived and worked on the water. Local actors Valerie Mills Cooper, Greg Jones, Mike Dunlop, Eloise Ullman, Chris Haley, and Karen Whaley provided the narration.

The audio tour is designed for visitors to enjoy on their personal media devices and lasts approximately 25 minutes. The tour is free and headphones are available at the museum for purchase.
