City Opens Parking Garages for Free to Downtown Vehicles

City officials also sent a notice to residents that they should clear the sidewalks during a snow event like Tuesday's.

Concerned for your vehicle being out in the snow? Annapolis has opened its city garages to residents for free as part of its emergency snow plan.

The garage is open, and will allow downtown residents an opportunity to move their vehicles from the street to the garage until 2 p.m. Weather forecasts project the heavy snow could end by noon.

City officials also sent a notice to residents that they should clear the sidewalks during a snow event like Tuesday's.

"City Code, Section 14.24.010 requires the abutting property owner to clear the public sidewalk of snow and ice within 3 hours after the snow or sleet has stopped falling except when the snow or sleet stopped falling between 3 p.m. and 6 a.m., then the snow/ice must be removed from the walk before 11a.m.," according to the release.

Violation of this code is subject to a $25 penalty.
