Comptroller Honors Annapolis Nonprofit
Seeds 4 Success was given an award in memory of the late former Gov. William Donald Schaefer.

Comptroller Peter Franchot recognized an Annapolis children's nonprofit Wednesday.
Franchot gave the William Donald Schaefer Helping People award to Seeds 4 Success in an event at the Eastport Community Center. The nonprofit aims to help Annapolis children living in public or subsudized housing, according to its website. Eastport Girls Club members were on hand for the ceremony, according to a release from Franchot's office.
Franchot created the award in honor of Schaefer, Maryland's former governor and comptroller and Baltimore's former mayor. It is awarded to one winner in each county and Baltimore City every spring and summer, according to the release.
