Fallen Navy SEAL's Family Hosting Wounded Vet Fundraiser

The family of fallen Navy SEAL Patrick Feeks is inviting people to support a new foundation created in his honor by joining them for an "Ugly Sweater Happy Hour" at an Annapolis restaurant on Wednesday.

The foundation is called “Feeks Fire,” and it's devoted to sending Kindle Fires overseas to soldiers fighting abroad. The effort is in partnership with the Annapolis-based Connected Warrior Foundation (CWF).

“The goal of Annapolis-based nonprofit CWF is connection—both human and technological and the provision of much-needed support and resources. CWF funds programs, raises awareness and supports activities to empower wounded veterans and improve their quality of life,” according to an official flyer posted by the CWF.

The happy hour fundraiser will be at Cadillac Ranch in the Annapolis Towne Centre at Parole on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m.

It's the first event hosted by the Feeks family following the death of their son in August. The 28-year-old Edgewater SEAL died while serving in Afghanistan when his helicopter crashed while fighting insurgents.

The Feeks are hoping residents will come out to Cadillac Ranch on Wednesday wearing their best ugly holiday sweaters and enjoy a night of food and drink specials, with proceeds going to the charitable organization.

A close family friend told Patch that Feeks’ widow will also be flying in from California to participate in the event.

Those planning the event ensured that 100 percent of the proceeds from the “Ugly Sweater Happy Hour” will go toward Feeks Fire and the CWF.
