ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — Two pedestrians were killed in the past two days in unrelated accidents, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

The first accident happened just after 6 p.m. Thursday on Catherine Avenue near 231st Street in Pasadena. Investigators said a Nissan Altima was southbound on Catherine Avenue when a pedestrian stepped off the sidewalk into the road and was struck by the Nissan.

Victoria Lee Remmey, 23, of Pasadena, was taken to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, where she was pronounced dead on Friday.

The driver of the vehicle — a 20-year-old Glen Burnie man — remained at the scene, a police news release said.

The second fatal accident happened about 2:40 a.m. Friday on Telegraph Road near Donaldson Avenue in Severn.

A Honda Civic was southbound on Telegraph Road when it struck a pedestrian — Jamie Kyle Rhyne, 35, of Glen Burnie — who was sitting in the southbound lanes, a police news release said. Rhyne was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Honda, a 24-year-old Odenton woman, remained at the scene.

Police said both drivers cooperated with accident investigators.
