Anne Arundel School Resource Officer On Leave Amid Assault Charge
The school resource officer, a 4-year veteran of the Anne Arundel County Police Department, has been placed on leave.
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — An Anne Arundel County police officer is facing charges after a community member accused her of assault.
Corporal Kara Parks, a four-year veteran of the Anne Arundel County Police Department assigned to the Bureau of Community Services, was charged with second-degree assault on Monday following the May 2025 incident, the agency said in a statement.
According to police, Parks was off duty and not in uniform at the time of the assault.

Authorities declined to provide additional information about the incident.
Parks currently works as a school resource officer at Northeast Middle School in Pasadena, according to the Anne Arundel County Public Schools website.

According to online court records, Parks was charged in Washington County District Court. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 15.
Police said Parks has been suspended with pay pending an investigation by the Office of Professional Standards.
