2nd Graders Get Letter Grades on New Report Cards

Another change this year: Teachers now record all grades electronically.

New report cards will be distributed to Anne Arundel students starting Tuesday, and parents of second-graders will notice a slight change. Their grades now reflect letters, aligning with upper level schools.

The change was done to coincide with new grading policies across the state, according to a press release from the school system.

"Additional changes have been made to the elementary level regulation to reflect the Board of Education’s 'commitment to maintaining rigorous performance, college and career readiness, and achievement of core standards for all students,'" according to the release.

Starting this school year, all teachers record grades electronically, doing away with the traditional paper method of grading. The change was made along with several other grading policy changes across the school system.

More information on the upcoming report card changes can be obtained through the school system's website, which has a downloadable pamphlet on the issue.
