Flash Flood Warning Issued For 4 MD Counties, 6 Inches Of Rain Possible
Thunderstorms could dump up to 6 inches of rain in parts of Maryland. Flash flooding is possible Thursday, forecasters warn.
Another bout of thunderstorms prompted the National Weather Service to issue flash flood warnings for three Maryland counties on Thursday.
Shortly after 3:15 p.m., the National Weather Service said Baltimore, Harford and Cecil counties were under a flood warning until 6:15 p.m. A flash flood warning is also in effect for Prince George's County until 5:15 p.m.
"Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen," according to the NWS alert. "The expected rainfall rate is 1.5 to 2.5 inches in 30 minutes. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly."

The entire state, except for Garrett and Allegany counties in western Maryland, remains under a flood watch from 2 p.m. Thursday to 2 a.m. Friday.
The weather service said it expects the heaviest rain to fall between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.

"Significant flash flooding is possible," the flood watch said. "Numerous showers and thunderstorms will develop and move across the area Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening."
Thunderstorms could return Friday afternoon and evening. The next week should be slightly cooler, as temperatures are not expected to reach the 90s through at least Wednesday.

Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 4pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 91. Southeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Thursday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between midnight and 2am, then a chance of showers after 2am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 68. North wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
Friday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. North wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Friday Night: A slight chance of showers before 2am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 64. North wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 81. Northeast wind 6 to 8 mph.
Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 63.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 83.
Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 64.
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85.
Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 66.
Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 86.
Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69.
Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 84.
