AACC Students Win Culinary Cup

Five students won individual honors in the April competition.

A group from Anne Arundel Community College took home a top regional honor last month in a culinary competition.

The Hotel, Culinary Arts and Tourism Institute won first place in the fifth Chesapeake Culinary Club, hosted by the institute in Glen Burnie. Four students also took individual prizes in the American Culinary Federation-sanctioned event, according to a release posted in the Baltimore Times.

Each school's four-person team had three savory contestants, and one pastry contestant, with the four items' scores added to a the final score, according to the release.

AACC student Karen Eaton of Annapolis won a gold medal in individual results, Matt Reed of Timonium and Ricky Rice of Pasadena won silver medals, and Aryn Haeger of Parkville won a bronze. In additional competition, Heather Tompkins of Severn won a bronze medal for a pastillage showpiece, according to the release.
