Bystander Wounded In Shootout Near Arundel Mills: Police

A woman police said was an uninvolved bystander was caught in the crossfire during a shootout near Arundel Mills mall.

HANOVER, MD — A bystander was shot during a shootout this weekend near Arundel Mills mall in Hanover, police said.

Officers said the victim, a 21-year-old woman, was shot in the upper body and hospitalized. She is expected to survive.

Authorities said they were called to Arundel Mills Boulevard and Arundel Way Friday around 8 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

Police said they found several vehicles that had been struck by gunfire.

Officers think gunshots were exchanged between two vehicles, catching the uninvolved victim in the crossfire.

Authorities said the involved vehicles drove away before police arrived.

Officers are still investigating.
