Capital Gazette Profiles Leitess, New State's Attorney
Anne Colt Leitess was sworn in Tuesday.

Anne Colt Leitess enters her new role as Anne Arundel County's state's attorney with years of experience.
The longtime prosecutor has been working in the office for two decades and on Tuesday was sworn in for the top job. The Capital Gazette profiled Leitess in an article Wednesday.
In 1996, Leitess became the first woman named to the office's violent crimes team. Before working in Anne Arundel County, she was a prosecutor in Baltimore City.

Leitess succeeds Frank Weathersbee, who Gov. Martin O'Malley selected in May to head the Maryland State Parole Commission. Leitess will serve the remainder of Weathersbee's term, and told the paper she will run to remain in office in 2014.
She met her husband Steven—also a lawyer, now in private practice—while working in the city. They have three sons ages 12, 19 and 17 and live in Crownsville.
