Chesapeake High School welcomed its new freshmen on Tuesday morning, the first day for new ninth grade students. Students in other grades start Wednesday morning.
"I think it's great, we have a great bunch of kids coming in and we really expect them to do very well," said principal Frank Drazan. "I think this group of freshmen has great potential. We know they did very well from the middle school, we have a lot of kids coming in taking advanced courses and we look forward to supporting that."
Along with new students, the upcoming school year brings new teachers as well.

"I'm excited for the new year," said Tabatha Brooks, a new foreign language teacher at Chesapeake who previously taught at Lindale Middle School. "Today will be my first day meeting my ninth graders. I'm excited, definitely more excited than nervous. I hope that we have a good year and that we can all get through the year on good terms and that we end the year on good terms."
