Coastal Flood Advisory, Tornado Watch in Effect for Edgewater Area

A Midwest storm system responsible for snow in North Dakota and tornadoes in Nebraska brings the possibility of costal flooding and tornadoes to Edgewater Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

A tornado watch has been issued for all of Anne Arundel County until 5 p.m. Monday. A tornado watch means that weather conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, according to NWS. Residents should be alert and prepare for severe weather. 

A costal flood advisory has also been issued for Edgewater, Davidsonville and much of the county until 4 p.m. Monday. A tidal anomaly of 1 to 1.5 feet above predictions is expected Monday morning, possibly increasing to 1.5 to 2 feet Monday afternoon and evening, NWS predicts. 

Minor flooding is expected in the morning, with the possibility of moderate flooding in the evening, according to predictions. 

A flood advisory indicates that winds and tides will create conditions causing flooding in low-lying areas along the shore. Residents should take precautions protect personal property and be on alert for additional warnings throughout the day, according to NWS.
