Council Orders Review of Police Training Grounds
Councilmen want a review of the police training facilities to be completed in time for budget season next year.

Anne Arundel County Councilmen want an extensive review of the county police's training facilities, which they deemed "ill-equipped."
In a unanimous vote on Monday, the council approved a resolution supporting a review of the Davidsonville-based facilities.
"The Anne Arundel County Police Department operates in a training facility that is ill-equipped for training new police recruits or for providing continuing education for police officers," according to the resolution.
The legislation is sponsored by Councilman Dick Ladd (R-5th District), of Broadneck, and co-sponsored by Councilmen Jerry Walker, (R-7th District), of Gambrills, Jamie Benoit (D-4th District), of Crownsville, Derek Fink (R-3rd District), of Pasadena, and John Grasso (R-2nd District), of Glen Burnie.
The training facility in Davidsonville was first built in 1950, originally designed to house missiles. The site was later converted for use by local police.Â
In addition to a study, the resolution calls for a cost analysis for options on improving the site, including renovation and construction, to be completed before budget season in 2014, with a progress update in February.
