County Executive Surveys Irene's Damage
County Executive John R. Leopold has been traveling around Anne Arundel County surveying the damage from Tropical Storm Irene.
Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold is visiting areas in the county that have been affected by Tropical Storm Irene to survey the damage.
"We're making an assessment tour of the county," said Leopold, who added that he also visited the county's central water facility and would be continuing to visit other areas. "We still have 90,000 people without power. It's a burden for our citizens."
Leopold added that he was thankful that there were no fatalities or serious injuries, but said that he was focused on reducing inconvenience to county residents.
"We've had an excellent emergency response to the hurricane," said Leopold, who said that he visited the central operations center in Glen Burnie. "I'm thankful for our paid workers and volunteers."
"We're always looking for ways to improve our emergency response," added Leopold.
