County Offers Former Leopold Spokeswoman $110,000 in Court Settlement

Hamner said she was fired for complaining about Leopold's behavior toward her.

Anne Arundel County officials have offered former county employee Karla Hamner $110,000 as a settlement in a wrongful termination lawsuit.

The settlement offer was broached to Hamner in a Sept. 18 letter by the county's legal team, according to online court records.

Hamner was seeking compensation after her claim of being fired after acting as a spokeswoman for former County Executive John R. Leopold from 2007-2008. In her complaint, Hamner said she was fired for complaining about Leopold's behavior toward her.

According to The Capital, Hamner's attorney said his client is happy with the offer, but is seeking additional funds to cover attorney fees and court costs.
