Earthquake Rocks Area, Pasadena Residents Sound Off
Seismic activity made the day a little more exciting for area residents.

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake shook up the Anne Arundel and Prince George's County areas this afternoon. Pasadena residents were glad to sound off on their views.
Steve Shoemaker, manager of Ace Hardware on Mountain Road, said that despite the earthquake the store wasn't moving any more home repair supplies.
"People just aren't coming in saying they need to fix their shelves, their ceilings, anything like that," said Shoemaker. "There hasn't really been any public response to it."
Shoemaker, who is originally from California, added that in his home state this sort of event was commonplace.
"For some of the employees working the registers up front, it was their first earthquake," said Shoemaker.
"It was definitely exciting," said Pasadena resident Carl Trabers, who was stopping at Safeway to load up on food and supplies in case the power went out. "I've heard that even people up in New York felt it. I was at work when it happened and thankfully nothing was damaged."
"All I kept thinking afterwards was that I was glad everyone I know is safe," said Pasadena resident Suzanne Mollins, who had recently picked up her daughter from a babysitter when the earthquake took place. "I hope nobody was hurt. It's not something you'd ever expect to happen here."
Pasadena residents also sounded off on Facebook.
"Unbelievable," wrote Barbara Reichert. "My husband was in our office and as a California native he directed us outside."
"Stuff fell off shelves and pictures off the wall, but nothing major," wrote Ashley Swift. "The baby didn't even notice."
