Fatal Crash In Crofton Claims 69-Year-Old Bowie Driver: Police

A fatal crash in Crofton claimed a Bowie driver, police said. He was 69 years old.

CROFTON, MD — A fatal crash in Crofton claimed a 69-year-old Bowie driver on Tuesday, police said.

Officers identified the victim as Winston Riley.

The wreck happened around 6:35 a.m. on Priest Bridge Road at Defense Highway, authorities said.

Police said Riley was driving a 2017 Ford Transit 250 van north on Priest Bridge Drive approaching Defense Highway.

Officers said the van left the right side of the roadway for unknown reasons and hit a tree.

Authorities said the Anne Arundel County Fire Department took the victim to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie, where he died soon after.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department is still investigating.
