The Anne Arundel County Fire Department has purchased 23 new chest compression systems to help people suffering from cardiac arrest.

According to a press release from the fire department, the "LUCAS2" units are an upgrade from past systems, because they can be applied while manual CPR is maintained, and can perform chest compressions at a consistent rate and depth. The units can be applied in the field and

“We are excited to be able to add this piece of equipment to our arsenal of life-saving tools to better serve the citizens of Anne Arundel County,” fire chief Robert Ray said in a press release.
The units are scheduled to be in use within the next 60 days.
