Giant Supermarket Among Suitors to Replace Fresh & Green's

Brokers are working with each retail space to fill them with new stores, and Giant Supermarket is among the names, a source told Patch.

Fresh & Green's stores across Maryland and D.C. are slated to close at the end of the year, and interested parties are vying to fill the vacuum.

Giant Supermarket is among several who have tossed their hats into the ring of potential buyers of the retail space soon to be vacated by Fresh & Green's, according to John Dixon of the Broadneck Development Corp.

Dixon said brokers are working with each retail space to come to an agreement, and among those names are Giant, which has three locations nearby in Annapolis and Severna Park.

"I believe the brokers have received interest from many retailers, including Giant.  We would welcome them as our new grocery tenant in the center, but I am not aware that such interest has progressed beyond initial discussions with the broker; similar to several other potentially interested parties," Dixon said.

Dixon, whose firm operates the College Parkway Shopping Center, which was anchored by Fresh & Green's, said he first was notified of the plans to shutter the supermarket a few weeks ago, and had heard no further details until recently.
