Hilda Avenue Man Sent for Treatment After Suicide Threats

Police officers recovered several weapons from the man's residence after defusing the incident.

A Hilda Avenue man was taken to a local medical facility for treatment after threatening suicide early Tuesday morning.

Eastern District police officers responded to a residence on the 8300 block of Hilda Avenue at about 2:22 a.m. after the man's wife reported that he had become agitated while under the influence of alcohol and possibly narcotics. Officers attempted to communicate with the man when they arrived but were unable to do so. Members of the Special Operations Division were called to the scene after officers learned that the man was threatening to use a firearm to commit suicide and that other weapons were present in the house.

After several hours the Special Operations Division was able to speak with the man, who left the house without incident at about 6:30 a.m. and was taken to a local medical facility for treatment. No charges were filed and three weapons were recovered from the home.
