Hit-And-Run Crash Hospitalizes Dirt Bike Driver: Police

A hit-and-run crash hospitalized a dirt biker, Anne Arundel County Police said. Officers are seeking the minivan driver who fled the scene.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A hit-and-run crash in Glen Burnie hospitalized a dirt bike driver on Sunday, police said.

Officers said the crash happened around 7:15 p.m. on Crain Highway near Main Avenue SW.

Authorities said a Honda 125R dirt bike was traveling south on Crain Highway, weaving through traffic and disobeying traffic control devices.

Police said the dirt bike, which wasn't registered, then entered the shared turn lane.

Authorities said a gold or brown/tan-colored minivan, also traveling south, made a U-turn to head north and collided with the dirt bike.

The minivan fled the scene without stopping or helping the dirt bike operator, police said.

Officers said the dirt bike rider wasn't wearing a helmet or any motorcycle safety gear.

Authorities said the dirt biker, an 18-year-old male, suffered potentially life-threatening injuries and was taken to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department is still investigating and looking for the unknown minivan, which has driver's side damage, and its operator.
