Jones Drive Homicide Shocks Pasadena Residents
A man allegedly killed his wife after a domestic dispute, Wednesday morning.
Pasadena residents remain alarmed over news that their neighbor allegedly killed his wife on Jones Drive in Pasadena Wednesday morning.
Police said that the suspect, Steven Richard Salb, 56, is believed to have killed his wife, Jill Salb, 38, after a domestic dispute. Jill Salb's daughter, identified as 19-year-old Tasha Teets by a neighbor, was also wounded while attempting to defend her mother. Jill Salb's son, Austin Teets, 15, was not involved in the incident.
"I'm shocked," said neighbor Angela Robertson. "This is normally a quiet neighborhood."
Robertson said that she heard about the incident from the news but didn't realize that it had taken place down the street from her home. She added that aside from having her home broken into in October, the area has been peaceful for the ten years that she and her family have lived there.
"People walk their dogs and stroll with their kids around here," said Robertson.
Robertson and her husband said that they weren't personally familiar with the Salbs.
"It's really not something you expect to hear about in an area like this," said Rob Michaels of Pasadena. "It's kind of a shock to the system. It makes you wonder what kind of person would do this to someone else."
"It's a shame, it really is," said Theresa Minton of Pasadena. "I really feel for their daughter. What's she going to do now? Both her parents are gone."
Steven Salb's previous wife, Jane B. Salb, filed for divorce in 1997, according to Maryland court records. According to police, Steven Salb is currently awaiting an initial appearance with the court commissioner.
Neighbors who asked not to be named, confirmed the identities of Jill Salb's daughter and son, mentioned that Jill Salb ran a day care center out of her home and added that the incident was "too depressing to talk about."
