Leitess Named New State's Attorney in Anne Arundel

The county's circuit court judges selected Leitess to fill the remainder of Frank Weathersbee's term.

Anne Colt Leitess has been appointed as Anne Arundel County's new state's attorney.

The Capital Gazette reports Leitess was tapped to succeed Frank Weathersbee, who Gov. Martin O'Malley selected last month to head the Maryland State Parole Commission.

The 49-year-old Leitess, a longtime prosecutor, was selected by the county's circuit court judges, and will serve until the next general election in 2014.
