Library to Expand Hours, Staffing

Anne Arundel County's library system received $750,000 in additional funding under the county's new budget.

There will be changes to check out soon at Anne Arundel County libraries.

The library system is adding more staff and expanding hours thanks to $750,000 in funding for the new fiscal year, The Capital Gazette reports.

The system will add 31 full-time positions and 32 part-time jobs, including 14 library associates and 14 circulation assistants, who will start Dec. 30, according to the paper.

“For everybody in the entire community, it’s going to mean a much better access to their library,” Hampton "Skip" Auld, the library system's executive director, told the paper. “For parents and caregivers, it’s going to make a tremendous impact. We’ll have a lot more programs."
