Man Murdered in Harmans, Suspect at Large

Police said Rene Filsfdelfo Leiva-Archila may have been targeted.

A Baltimore man was mortally wounded on Thursday night in Harmans, and Anne Arundel County police are investigating the incident as a homicide.

Police said Rene Filsfdelfo Leiva-Archila, 44, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. He was initially directed to a trauma center but paramedics instead went to a local hospital, where he died.

Police said they responded to the 7400 block of Railroad Avenue at about 7:45 p.m. Thursday. A preliminary investigation suggests that Leiva-Archila scheduled a meeting with the suspect and he was targeted as part of an armed robbery attempt. Police did not release a detailed description of the suspect, but said he fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.
