SEVERNA PARK, MD — A man who exposed himself to a high school girls track team will serve prison time in Anne Arundel County, officials announced recently.

Prosecutors said 43-year-old Adam Sandow of Glen Burnie was sentenced Oct. 21 to 24 years in prison with all but four years suspended.

"The Defendant has a history of exposing himself to minors outside of schools and parks in our community and has been convicted of, and served time for these offenses," Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Anne Colt Leitess said in an Oct. 22 press release. "He obviously learned nothing from these previous detainments and I am relieved he will serve a sentence at the Division of Correction."

The prosecution said the encounter happened May 3 at the intersection of Jumpers Hole Road and Benfield Boulevard in Severna Park.

Eight members of the Severna Park High School girls track team were on a practice run and stopped at the intersection to wait for a traffic light, the state's attorney said.

Leitess said Sandow stopped his vehicle next to the group, exposed his genitals and masturbated while looking at them.

The student-athletes reported that they had a clear view of Sandow's genitals and that he didn't appear to be wearing any clothes from the waist down, prosecutors said.

The state's attorney said the runners noted that Sandow was in the turn lane and free to turn right, but he stayed put next to the girls as he committed the act.

Leitess said the team reported the incident to their track coach and friends once he drove away.

A witness recorded Sandow's vehicle and gave his registration information to police, the prosecution said.

The state's attorney said the victims were shown a photo of the vehicle and identified it as the one involved.

Leitess said investigators confirmed that the vehicle was registered to Sandow, who fit the suspect description.

Prosecutors said Sandow pleaded guilty to all eight misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court in Annapolis.

Assistant State's Attorney Sean Fox prosecuted the case. Judge Richard Trunnell presided over it.

Prosecutors said Sandow must serve five years of supervised probation, during which he must avoid the victims and minors, excluding relatives.

The state's attorney said Sandow will be monitored under COMET, the state's sexual offender management program.

"Our children deserve to feel safe from predators in their community, especially while enjoying school activities with their friends," Leitess said.
